Join us for an exhibition celebrating the craft of contemporary woodworking. Feature the work of two artists who work with care, curiosity and craft – this show explores the beauty, balance and boldness of wood as both material and muse. From sculptural forms to functional design, each pieces tells a tactile story shaped by hand and heart.

Andrea St. Clair presents: You are absolutely gorgeous, and that is the least interesting thing about you.“

This collection of handcrafted mirrors and wall art blends intricate woodworking with bold, graphic design. Each piece is a unique fusion of form and function, designed to reflect the viewer and the creative vision.

Terry McCarty presents: “Wood is art is wood”

“After 50 years of self-employment in the construction industry, I created a unique product that needs exposure. It is artwork at hangs on walls and charcuterie boards that are different. Solid wood in unusual shapes and many different species meticulously pieced together in an abstract way. The same response I get from everyone who sees them is “I’ve never seen anything like that before”

Join us for the fifth annual art exhibition presented by Poetic City Visual Arts!

A Solo Exhibition by Sunee Rice, President of Poetic City Visual Arts

Not a Monolith is a solo art exhibition exploring the richness and complexity of Black identity through a blend of abstract expression and intimate portrayals of everyday life. This collection challenges singular narratives and invites viewers to experience the layered, nuanced realities that exist within Black experiences.

Through a series of works that span from the boldly abstract to the deeply personal, Not a Monolith is a celebration of individuality, quiet moments, and the power of simply being.

This show is a reflection on identity, visibility, and the freedom to be complex.

“The phrase "not a monolith" emphasizes that any group or concept, whether it's Black people, women, or even the media, is not homogenous. There are many individual differences in experiences, beliefs, and perspectives within that group.”

“….we are acknowledging the need to move beyond simplistic generalizations and recognize the nuances within that group.”

“…challenges the idea of oversimplifying a group by treating all members as identical.”

“…recognizing that there can still be individuality in spite of sharing aspects of identity and culture.”

Past Exhibits:

2025: Not a Monolith

2024: Dynamic Duos

2023: Heroes

2022: Perception

2021: Melanin Stories

Poetic City Visual Arts presents artwork by emerging and established artists in a wide variety of styles and mediums! Poetic City is an electrifying fusion of poetry, dance, music, rap, and visual art by a dynamic Oklahoma-based Black creative collective.

“I find the possibilities of what can be done with a single strand of thread or a fluffy ball of wool roving endlessly challenging and fascinating. Transforming these raw materials into something incredibly detailed is a process that is just as important to me as the end result. My goal is perfect my art and techniques so that it is not apparent that I am using fiber rather than paint or photography. I find inspiration through nature, space, people, and anywhere there are interesting colors, textures, light and shadows.

I plan to exhibit both my thread painting embroideries and felted works. My thread paintings use cotton embroidery floss, worked one individual strand at a time, to create the most realistic imagery I can. Most of these are quite small, rarely larger than 11"x14" framed. I also plan to do about half of the works in the exhibit with felted wool, using a combination of wet and needle felting, to create larger pieces, as well as some smaller works. All of my work is realistic and much of it focuses on nature, space, architecture, or people. I can narrow down my focus for this show to one particular theme, like Oklahoma, architecture, or space, if desired.”

Shakespeare's "sit-com" centers around the infamously philandering Sir John Falstaff, and his amorous misadventures in small town England.

Traditionally believed to have been written at the request of Queen Elizabeth I, Shakespeare crafted a story in which Sir John sets his sights on wooing two resourcefully witty married women, who put the infamous knight through his paces. Windsor’s cast of colorful characters season the plot with hilarious results, and young love ultimately wins the day.

Staged outdoors in the beautiful Shakespeare Gardens, Paseo, this delightful romp is a light-hearted work of wonderful fun. Directed by Artistic Associate, Kris Kuss, with a stellar cast including Associate Artistic Director, Lance Marsh, and Artistic Associate David Weber, we welcome you to the Merry World of Windsor!

Literati Press: Up Front with Emmy Ezzel

You’re writing for publication, seeking a publisher, planning to self-publish, or something else. Creating good files up front can make you look more professional, pave the way for effective editing and design, attract a publisher, and produce well-formatted print files. You don't have to be the editor, designer, marketer (though you may be). But understanding enough about those tasks can help position yourself for success. You’ll get a brief introduction to resources and a reference list, hear cautionary tales from 45 years of book design and production, and have a chance to ask thorny questions.

Emmy Ezzell is a native Texan, but has lived in Oklahoma 6 years (the first time) and another 19 years the second time. Her daughter Sarah Atlee is an OKC fiber artist and painter, and her little dog, Flower, helps out at Literati as a Bookshop Dog.

Emmy spent her professional life designing and producing books for University Presses in New Mexico, Indiana, and Oklahoma, thereby accumulating a vast store of esoteric trivia. She is enjoying learning the other side of the book business, and also enjoying the ringside seat for Literati Press's new venture, the Creative Writing Center.

Oklahoma Shakespeare: Penelope

  • Oklahoma Shakespeare (map)

PENELOPE is a musical re-telling of the Odyssey for one actor and a five-piece chamber orchestra.

Composer Alex Bechtel tells the story of the Odyssey's Penelope, yearning for the return of her husband, Odysseus, following the events of the Trojan War. One actor and a 5-piece chamber orchestra perform a haunting score - by turns hilarious, explosive, and sensual. Bechtel, and co-book writers Grace McLean and Eva Steinmetz, have delivered a fresh take on this timeless love story.
